Consent Mode and privacy
Respect privacy choices without going blind
We connect your cookie banner to Google Consent Mode so tags follow each visitor's choice and your measurement keeps working within the rules.
Consent is easy to get wrong in both directions
Plenty of sites have a cookie banner that's just decoration. Visitors click "Reject" and every tag fires anyway. That's a legal and trust problem, and it gets more serious as more privacy laws take effect.
Other sites go the opposite way. The banner blocks tags so aggressively that GA4 and Google Ads lose most of their data, nobody notices for months, and campaign performance mysteriously drops.
A lot of setups also miss the connection between the banner and Google's own consent signals. The banner works, but Google tags don't know what the visitor chose, so they can't adjust their behavior or model the gaps.
How we set up privacy-ready tracking
We wire your consent banner, Google Tag Manager and Google tags together so each visitor's choice is passed through correctly and honored by every tag. Google tags read the consent state through Consent Mode. Non-Google tags get consent-based triggers in GTM.
We'll explain the technical options clearly. We're not lawyers, so we'll work with your counsel or privacy policy on what your business is required to do, then make the tracking match it.
Consent Mode v2 signals
Google tags receive ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization states from your banner.
Basic or advanced mode
We explain the trade-offs between blocking tags until consent and sending cookieless pings, and set up the one you choose.
Every tag follows the rules
Meta, LinkedIn and other non-Google tags get consent checks in GTM so they only fire when allowed.
Region-aware defaults
Default consent states can differ by visitor location, matching the rules where your audience actually is.

Questions we get a lot
What is Google Consent Mode?
It's a way for your site to tell Google tags whether a visitor agreed to analytics and advertising storage. The tags then adjust what they collect. In advanced mode, Google can use cookieless signals to model some of the conversions it can't observe directly.
Does every business need Consent Mode?
Google requires Consent Mode for advertisers using certain features with visitors from places with strict consent rules, and a growing number of privacy laws give visitors opt-out rights. Whether it's required for you depends on where your audience is and which laws apply, but it's good practice either way.
Will a cookie banner hurt our conversion tracking?
Some visitors will decline, and you'll observe fewer of their actions. A well-built setup limits the damage: tags still fire for visitors who accept, and Consent Mode can help fill gaps through modeling. A badly built one can block far more than it needs to.
Can you give us legal advice on privacy?
No. We handle the technical side and make sure tags behave the way your policy says they should. For what your business is legally required to do, talk to a privacy attorney, and we'll build to their guidance.
